We have sold wine online for nearly a decade, and I’ve sold wine for getting on 40 years since 1972. But the time has come to stop. Not because of we’re losing interest in wine or lack of business; just ‘cos I’ve got too old to hump the boxes. A pallet of 56 dozen arrives at my store, and I find it hard work now, stacking it all away!

I will still be involved with wine, advising and putting together wine lists for clients. Two major customers currently, are the The Walnut Tree and Angel Hotel, both at Abergavenny in Wales. I shall still be looking after their wine ordering and supply, and maintaining their lists.

What I won’t be doing, is physically handling the wine anymore. Which raises the question, what are we personally going to drink now? Will we have to actually buy wine in a shop?
